#1  Blake Freking - Finland, MN

Age:  38

Racing Experience: - Iditarod Finisher 2000, 2008, 2010 Yukon Quest Veteran 2005, Beargrease Marathon Champion 2004

 

Blake is an Engineer with the Forest Service in Ely. He and his wife, Jennifer, own Manitou Crossing Kennels near Finland, MN where they raise and train their Siberian Huskies for long distance sled dog races.

#2  Merlyn Coy - Iron River, WI

Age:  36

Racing Experience: - 2003, 2005 Midnight Run

 

Merlyn Coy, along with his wife, Anne, and 5yr old daughter, McKenna, run a small sled dog kennel in Iron River, WI. Merlyn has been running dogs for over 12 years and competed in numerous races in Michigan before moving to Wisconsin last year. Merlyn works as a dental lab tech at Lake Superior Dental Laboratory in Duluth, MN. When he is not working or running dogs, he enjoys kayaking, making cider, wine, and goat cheese from their herd of Oberhasli dairy goats.

 

#3  Michael Bestgen - St. Cloud, MN

Age:  53

I have worked at Miller Chevrolet for 25 yrs in the sales department. So all my customer that buy from me are my sponsors. Thank you to all. I'm married to Vicki and we have 3 daughters and 1 son and currently 7 grandkids. I have been mushing for 13 yrs. I love the dogs and being outdoors.

 

#4  Harry Lambirth - Blackduck, MN

Age:  61

Racing Experience: - I have been racing since 1990.  My only significant accomplishment is that I am still racing.

 

My wife Mary and I are guides in Quetico Park during the summer.  We have 17 Alaskan Huskies that we train during the time we are not guiding.  When we are not outdoors we enjoy reading and music.

 

#5  Frank Moe - Hovland, MN

Age:  46

Racing Experience:  - 2011 Wolf Tracks 3rd Place, 2011 White Oak 2nd Place, 2011 UP 200 7th Place, 2010 White Oak 3rd Place, 2010 Beargrease Marathon 13th Place, 2009 Red River Dog Derby 3rd Place.

 

Sherri and I live with our 38 sled dogs near Grand Marais, MN. I work as a canoe, sea kayak and climbing guide. We’ve had a dog team for 11 years but didn’t really start racing until 2008. We love the Wolf Track Classic and are looking forward to it.
