On Saturday, February 28^th, 2009, some of the area’s best canine veterinarians will be on hand to perform comprehensive veterinarian examinations on all the four-legged competitors. From 7:00am until noon, 70 mushers, nearly 140 handlers, 490 sled dogs and hundreds of additional spectators sporting digital cameras will watch as the canine superstars are examined and ruled “fit” to run the rough and rugged Taconite and Mesabi Trails.

The Vet Checks draw large crowds, as this is the first opportunity for spectators to meet the human competitors and size up the real stars-of-the-show!
